NEW YORK, NY - Taking on their final opponent of the 2024 season, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team fell to Farmingdale State College, losing to the Rams by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Candace Villavicencio and
Shany Elmaleh, with Villavicencio putting up two kills while Elmaleh helmed the squad with four assists.
Both Villavicencio and Elmaleh had stellar games on defense as well, tallying one block and 11 digs respectively.
With the loss, the Macs close out the season with a record of 2-14, 0-11 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva struggled in the first set, managing just one kill and dropping the period, 25-6.
- Despite falling behind early in the second set, trailing by as many as eight points at 17-9, the Maccabees took full advantage of 10 consecutive Farmingdale errors, closing the gap to 23-21 and forcing a Ram timeout. However, they could not usurp FSC's advantage out of the break, as two final Ram points closed out the period, 25-21.
- The Macs once again fell behind early in the third set, trailing 16-5. While a kill from Elmaleh and five Farmingdale errors allowed YU to crack double digit, eight consecutive Ram points shut down any hopes of a comeback, ending the period, 25-11.
