NEW YORK, NY - Still looking for their first win of the season, the Yeshiva men's volleyball team fell to New Jersey City University, losing to the Gothic Knights by a score of 3-0 on Friday, Feb. 16.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by the duo of
Lavi Friedman and
Zanvy Lesnoy, with Friedman tallying three kills and an ace while Lesnoy put up four assists.
Lesnoy also had a solid game on the defensive end of the ball, teaming up with
Eitan Cillo to protect the floor, as both recorded three digs on the day.
With the loss, the Macs are now 0-5, 0-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Macs struggled in the first set, being held to just seven points and one kill as NJCU came out on top, 25-7.
- Yeshiva had more success come the second set, as early kills from Friedman and Michael Stark kept YU competitive. However, YU were unable to keep pace with the Gothic Knights' lethal attack, dropping the period, 25-11.
- While a kill from Andrew Pinchot and service ace from Jarrett Lazarus brought the Macs within one point of their opponent at 3-2, that stretch would prove the high point of the Yeshiva's third and final set. Held without another kill, YU ultimately fell 25-9, dropping the match 3-0.
