PATCHOGUE, NY - Taking on a Skyline opponent, the Yeshiva men's volleyball team fell to St. Joseph's University Long Island, dropping to the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday, Mar. 20.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw production out of
Jarrett Lazarus and
Zevulun Kirshtein, with Lazarus posting the team's only kill, while Kirshtein tallied the squad's one assist.
Lazarus also had a solid day on defense, notching six digs on the day.
With the loss, the Macs are now 1-22, 1-13 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva struggled in the first set, seeing SJLI put up ten points before they were able to get on the board. While Lazarus' kill finally tallied a stat for the Macs, the Golden Eagles had full control of the period, dropping YU, 25-4.
- The Maccabees performed a bit better in set number two, putting up two points before SJLI cracked double digits. A 4-2 YU run got the Macs within six at 11-5, yet Yeshiva were unable to catch up with their opponent, falling by a score of 25-8.
- The Maccabees were able to keep things close through the first 12 serves, trailing by just four at 8-4. However, YU was unable to maintain that momentum, ultimately losing the set, 25-8, and the match, 3-0.
