FARMINGDALE, NY - Earning a conference playoff berth for the tenth consecutive season, the Yeshiva men's tennis team fell in the semifinals to #1 seeded Farmingdale State College, losing to the Rams by a score of 5-0 on Thursday, May 2.
The Maccabees struggled early, dropping all three doubles matches and carrying a 3-0 disadvantage into singles play. Unfortunately, Yeshiva was not able to turn things around in singles, falling twice more to give Farmingdale the decisive fourth and fifth points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:
- Despite having cemented their status as one of the better doubles programs in the conference, YU's duos could not stand up to their Ram opponents, as the pairs of David Cattan/Leo Rahmey (8-1), Jacob Pfeifer/Harry Radnisky (8-4) and Mark Adler/Israel Bussu (8-3) all fell.
- With the losses, the Macs trailed 3-0 going into singles.
Singles:
- While they never gave up the fight, YU suffered the same fate in singles play. Both Pfeifer (6-1, 6-1) and Rahmey (6-2, 6-2) were downed in straight sets, ceding to Farmingdale the definitive dual match victory.
