Turell burst onto the national stage during his time with the Maccabees, averaging 24 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists over 90 games played in the YU white and blue. For his efforts, the California native was named Skyline Conference Player of the Year in both 2021 and 2022, and earned NABC DIII National Player of the Year Honors in 2022, accolades which led to him being selected 27th overall by the Detroit Piston affiliate Motor City Cruise in the NBA G-League Draft, the first ever Orthodox Jewish player to ever be selected in the G-League Draft.

Turell found success in Detroit, appearing in 54 games for the Cruise and averaging 4.5 points and 13.3 minutes.

The 6-7 small forward is now set to continue his career overseas, joining an Ironi Ness Ziyyona team that hopes to rebound after falling in the quarterfinals of the Premier League. Optimistic about the move to the Ness Ziyyona based squad, Turell said in a team statement, "I'm very excited and honored to be a part of Ironi Ness Ziyyona, and can't wait to start playing. It's always been a dream of mine to play in Israel, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to do it with Ness Ziona."

The move has been widely praised within the YU community, with Yeshiva Men's Basketball Head Coach Elliot Steinmetz posting on X, "Proud of this kid. Nobody represents YU Athletics and our people better. Keep chasing your dreams with class."
