ASHLAND, VA - Taking on their first of many nationally ranked opponents, the Yeshiva Men's Basketball Team fell to #2 Randolph-Macon College, losing to the Yellow Jackets by a score of 92-57 on Saturday, Nov 15th.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Or Sundjyvsky, with the senior tallying 13 points on 4-7 shooting.
On the defensive side of the ball, freshman
Yair Dovrat patrolled the paint for YU, pulling down a team-leading five rebounds, while also swiping a steal.
With the result, the Macs are now 0-2 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabees kept the game close early on, seeing the game tied at 4-4, and even taking a 5-4 lead just under three minutes in off baskets from Dothan Bardichev and Sundjyvsky. However, the Yellow Jackets quickly established control over the next ten minutes of play, pushing their advantage into the double digits at 21-11 with 9:43 remaining in the half.
- While YU's deficit reached as many as 17 points, the Macs refused to quit, fighting their way back within 11, and going into the break trailing, 37-26.
- Come the start of the second half, the Maccabee offense continued to press, seeing buckets from Sundjyvsky, Nate Jacobs, and Zevi Samet. However, the effort was not enough to match Randolph-Macon's output, with the Yellow Jackets showing why they are the #2 team in all of DIII. The margin between the two squads hit 20 at 13:51, and then 30 at 7:48. Yeshiva was unable to answer, ultimately falling by a score of 92-57.
