NEW YORK, NY - Playing at home for the second-to-last time in the 2025 season, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team fell to Maritime College, losing to the Mariners by a score of 3-0 on Sunday, Nov. 2nd.
 
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by the duo of Elle Ohayon and Naava Bodek, with Ohayon tallying seven kills, while Bodek notched 13 assists.
 
On the defensive side of the ball, libero Emma Lieber came through for YU in a big way, heading the unit with 23 digs.
 
With the result, the Macs are now 2-13, 0-10 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Maccabees jumped out to an early lead in set one, going up 12-8 behind kills from Ohayon and Sasha Aaron. While this advantage would not hold, with Maritime knotting the contest at 16-16, YU continued to push, retaking the edge on three separate occasions at 19-18, 21-20, and 22-21. However, the women in blue and white could not finish the job, as a 4-0 run from the Privateers closed out the set, 25-22.
   
• Despite falling behind early, a tenacious Maccabee attack kept the second set close, trailing by just two points at 12-10. Yeshiva would falter, falling behind 20-11, but would rally late, seizing five straight points to draw within four at 20-16. However, the effort was not enough to match Maritime's output, with the Macs ultimately falling, 25-17.
   
• After having battled hard in the previous two periods, the Maccabee offense faltered in the third set. While YU were able to push their point total into the double digits, the Macs only managed two kills, losing the set by a score of 25-10.
