NEW YORK, NY - Playing in their penultimate home game of the season, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to Farmingdale State College, losing the Rams by a score of 53-35 on Monday, Feb. 17th.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Shai Rahamim, with the Israel native recording a team-high 10 points.
On the defensive side of the ball, Yeshiva saw a stellar outing from
Daniella Bessler, with the graduate student tallying 11 rebounds and six steals on the night.
With the result, the Macs are now 4-19, 4-14 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two squads traded baskets through the five minutes of play, with the score locked at 6-all with 4:57 remaining in the first quarter. While two baskets managed to secure Farmingdale some breathing room at 10-6, a layup in the closing seconds from Bessler slashed YU's deficit down to two at 10-8 headed into the break.
- Farmingdale's lead grew early in the second quarter, ballooning out to nine points at 17-8. Yet the Maccabee offense continued to keep pace, slashing that advantage down to five at 19-14. However, two jumpers in the final minute stretched the Ram edge back to nine, with Yeshiva going into the half down, 23-14.
- Farmingdale's lead broke into double digits off the first basket in the third quarter, a spot from which it would ultimately never fall. While the Macs managed a game-high 11 points in the period, they could not match Farmingdale's output at 16, entering the final ten minutes trailing, 39-25.
- Despite shots falling from Bessler, Jasmin Maly-Danker, Naomi Sigman and Tali Cohen throughout the fourth quarter, the Maccabees simply could not catch Farmingdale's output. The Macs were outscored by a margin of 14-10, closing out the game with a 53-35 loss.
