ORANGEBURG, NY - Taking the court for the first time since September, the Yeshiva Men's Tennis Team fell to Baruch College, losing to the Bearcats by a score of 4-3 on Sunday, Mar. 3rd.
The Maccabees started off strong in doubles play, picking up the point thanks to a pair of quick wins. However, the Macs could not maintain that momentum in singles, dropping four of the six matches.
Yeshiva saw some new blood swing a racket, with
Matan Kamhi making his Maccabee debut against Baruch.
With the loss, the Macs are now 0-2 on the season, having lost earlier in the year at SUNY Oneonta.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:
- Despite the pair of Kami/Israel Bussu falling in the No. 1 seeded match, the Maccabees rallied in the No. 2 and No. 3. The duos of David Cattan/Jacob Feit and Jacob Pfeifer/Mark Adler came out on top by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 respectively, picking up the doubles point with the Maccabees.
Singles:
- Yeshiva continued to tally points in singles play, with Feit (6-1, 7-6) and Adler (6-2, 6-0) securing wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 seeded matches.
- Unfortunately, YU's success would end there. Kamhi, Pfeifer and Cattan all fell in straight sets, while Bussu dropped a three set slog, 7-5, 4-6, 10-7. With the final loss, the Macs ultimately surrendered the dual match, 4-3.
