Men’s Volleyball Drops Conference Matchup at Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ - The Yeshiva University Men's Volleyball team traveled to New Jersey to take on the Ramapo College Roadrunners but fell short, dropping the match 3-0 on Wednesday, March 6th.

Offensively, the Macs were led by outside hitter Jonathan Werta, who tallied four kills. Setter Amiti Trabelsi contributed six assists on the night.

On the defensive end, Trabelsi and Yoni Rubin combined for seven digs, while Peter Osen was the lone Mac to record a block.

With the loss, the Macs are now 1-11, 0-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Yeshiva's first points of the night came from a service error by their opponents, making it 3-1. However, the Roadrunners quickly seized momentum with a dominant nine-point run. A crucial kill from Massimo Bertini, off an assist from Amiti Trabelsi, finally ended the streak. The Macs added two more points off Ramapo errors, followed by a kill from Peter Osen to bring the score to 21-5. Despite their efforts to rally, the early deficit proved too much to overcome, as the Roadrunners closed out the set with a 25-5 victory.

  • The second set started with Yeshiva striking first, getting on the board early. The teams traded points in the opening moments, with the Macs capitalizing on Ramapo's errors and Werta adding a key kill to keep the score tied at 3.

  • Yeshiva continued to benefit from Roadrunner miscues, but Ramapo soon found its rhythm, going on a strong run that created a gap the Macs struggled to close. Werta delivered another kill to bring the score to 22-9, but the Roadrunners closed out the set by claiming the final three points, securing a 25-9 victory and their second set win of the match.

  • Set three started slowly for Yeshiva, as the Roadrunners jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. The Macs got on the board after three attack errors by Ramapo, narrowing the score to 8-3. A kill from Werta, off an assist from Trabelsi, added another point for Yeshiva. Three consecutive errors by Ramapo brought the score to 15-7, keeping the Macs within reach. However, the Roadrunners maintained their offensive pressure, closing out the set 25-10 to secure the match victory.
