EDGEWATER, NJ - Taking on their penultimate non-conference opponent of the season, the Yeshiva Baseball Team faced off against the University of Valley Forge. What was originally supposed to be a doubleheader turned into a single game due to inclement weather, a contest that the Macs dropped, 13-1.
The Maccabees were led by
Jake Arnow, with the sophomore tallying two hits and an RBI on the day.
With the loss, the Macs are now 0-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite a pair of hits in the first two innings, the Maccabee offense could not close the deal, leaving runners stranded both times.
- It was in the third that YU finally broke through. After drawing a walk, Coby Kamish cleared the three remaining bases on an Arnow double, tallying Yeshiva's first and ultimately only run of the afternoon.
- The Macs were not without their chances to score more runs. In the bottom of the seventh, Yeshiva had men on first and second with two outs, only for a centerfield flyout to end the inning and leave the base runners stranded.
- Yehuda Speyer served as a bright spot for YU's pitching staff, dishing out five strikeouts on five innings pitched. Unfortunately, the effort was not enough to keep Valley Forge's bats contained, with the Macs conceding four runs in the first, three in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, and four in the sixth, resulting in a 13-1 Maccabee loss.
