Men’s Volleyball Drops Season Finale at Sarah Lawrence

NEW YORK, NY - In their final matchup of the season, the Yeshiva University Men's Volleyball team traveled to face the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons. The Macs were unable to secure a win, falling 3-0 on Wednesday, April 2nd.

Offensively, outside hitters Jonathan Werta and Aden Frohlich combined for 12 kills, while setter Amiti Trabelsi once again led the way, recording 13 assists throughout the match. Additionally, Eli Anina secured the one ace of the night for Yeshiva.

Defensively, Yoni Rubin led the way with 10 digs, while Jonathan Werta followed closely behind with eight.
 
With the loss the Macs are now 1-26, 0-18 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Set one began with early service and attack errors by the Macs allowing Sarah Lawrence to get the upper hand. Two service errors by the Gryphons gave Yeshiva their first two points of the game making the score 4-2. But more Yeshiva errors continued to allow the Gryphons to pull away. Yeshiva were able to stack up more points highlighted by kills from Trabelsi, Frohlich, and Werta. Despite, these bright moments the Gryphons continued to score giving them a 10 point lead.
     
  • Sarah Lawrence once again came out strong, opening the set with a dominant offensive display giving them a 4-0 run. Yeshiva responded with a kill by Frohlich off a set from Trabelsi. Offensively, Werta added a pair of back-to-back kills bringing the score to 11-5. Midway through the set, Sarah Lawrence extended their lead with consistent serving and well-executed kills. Yeshiva attempted to close the gap with key plays from Werta and Menachem Solomon, but Sarah Lawrence maintained control. Despite a late push from Yeshiva, including a service error from the Gryphons, they were unable to come back with the set ending 25-13.
     
  • Yeshiva kept set three close in the early stages, with Peter Osen contributing a key kill as well as capitalizing on Sarah Lawrence errors. However, Sarah Lawrence were able to go on a run, capitalizing on Yeshiva's errors, including multiple attack and service errors. The Gryphons extended their lead thanks to consistent play. Yeshiva attempted a late push with kills from Solomon and Werta, but the Gryphons' control of the match remained firm. Anina's service ace briefly gave Yeshiva momentum, but a decisive kill sealed the set and the match for Sarah Lawrence.
