TEANECK, NJ - Hosting their penultimate home game of the season, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team fell to Farmingdale State College, losing to the Rams by a score of 4-2 on Sunday, Oct. 18th.
Before the game, the Maccabees honored their four graduating seniors, thanking
Franco Busso,
Hadar Lavinsky,
Asher Light, and
Ran Nachlieli for their commitment and contributions to the program.
Offensively, the Macs were led by the duo of Busso and Nachlieli, with each senior tallying a goal on the night, and in Nachlieli's case, the first of his career.
With the result, YU is now 3-5-4, 0-5-3 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- While both squads were held scoreless through the first 25 minutes of play, Farmingdale struck in the 28th minute. The Rams scored not once but twice in less than 50 seconds, putting the Maccabees in a 2-0 hole, a scoreline that would hold into the break.
- Not willing to simply roll over however, Yeshiva rallied early in the second half. After keeper Abraham Gabay turned away a Farmingdale penalty two minutes into the period, Yeshiva drew one of their own in the 50th minute. Busso confidently and precisely buried the ensuing shot in the bottom-left-hand corner, cutting YU's deficit to 2-1.
- However, YU's momentum would not hold. Farmingdale scored twice more to go up 4-1, and while Nachlieli found the back of the net in the 86th minute off a beautiful corner from Lavinski, the effort proved too little too late. When the final horn sounded, the Maccabees had fallen, 4-2.
