NEW YORK, NY - Taking the court for the final time in the 2025-26 season, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to the University of Mount Saint Vincent, losing to the Dolphins by a score of 69-46 on Wednesday, Feb. 18th.
Before opening tip, the Maccabees took a moment to honor their graduating seniors for Senior Night, saying thank you and goodbye to
Jasmin Maly-Danker,
Tali Cohen, and
Hannah Rashty.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw three players score in double digits.
Ilana Schwartz led the way with 13 points, while Cohen and
Naomi Sigman each posted 10 on the night.
On the defensive side of the ball, YU saw another masterclass out of
Fortune Hanan, with the 5-11 center notching a statline of eight rebounds, seven blocks, and a steal.
With the result, the Macs close out the season with a record of 3-22, 2-18 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva struggled offensively in the first quarter, only putting up four points. While their defensive unit was able to slow down UMSV to an extent, the Dolphins still closed out the period up, 10-4.
- The Macs finally found their groove in the second quarter, splashing in 13 points thanks to stellar shooting from Sigman, Cohen, and Simone Amkraut. However, the Dolphins also continued to produce at a high level, with the Macs trailing 28-17 headed into the break.
- YU's attack once again stumbled in the third quarter, scoring just eight points to UMSV's 20. The Maccabees went into the final 10 minutes down by 23 at 48-25.
- Yeshiva had their best quarter of the game in the fourth, matching UMSV blow-for-blow as each team put up 21 points. However, the effort was not enough for the Macs to overcome their deficit, ultimately dropping their season finale, 69-46.
