Baseball Drops Season Opener to MCLA

TEANECK, NJ - Taking the field for the first time in 2026, the Yeshiva Baseball team fell to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, losing to the Trailblazers by scores of 23-1 and 8-5 on Sunday, Mar. 1st.

The Maccabees were led by Jake Arnow, with second-year phenom tallying four hits, two runs, and two RBIs across the pair of contests.

With the result, the Macs are now 0-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 23-1)

  • The Maccabees finally got on the board in the fifth, with a single from Josh Paskoff driving Arnow home.

Yehuda Liberman and RJ Hellman opened the scoring, both coming home on an Arnow triple, only to be followed by Reuben Benzaquen, Paskoff, and Arnow himself.

  • The Maccabees also saw a stellar performance from Jacob Shakin on the mound, with the senior tossing seven strikeouts while allowing just two hits over four innings.

  • Unfortunately, YU could not keep the Trailblazers down forever. MCLA tied the game at 5-5 in the fifth, before taking the lead off three more runs in the seventh, ultimately downing the Macs, 8-5.
