PURCHASE, NY - Taking the court for one final time in 2026, the Yeshiva Men's Volleyball Team fell to Purchase College, losing to the Panthers by a score of 3-0 on Sunday, Mar. 29th.
The Maccabees were led across the board by big-man
Mateusz Karpow, with the 6-9 right side hitter tallying 15 kills, two aces, five blocks, and a dig on the day,
With the result, the Macs end their season with a record of 2-20, 0-14 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabees jumped out to an early lead in the first set, up 16-8 behind kills from Karpow, Amiti Trabelsi, and Sean Felderman. Despite Purchase's pushback, this edge would hold, with the Macs just four points from a set win at 21-17. Unfortunately, YU could not finish the job. Despite netting two set points at 24-23 and 25-24, the Maccabees failed to secure the needed two-point win, with the Panthers going on to claim three straight scores for a 27-25 victory.
- Unlike the first set, the second one saw the Macs fall behind early, down 12-4 through the first 16 serves. Yeshiva would rally, drawing within three at 18-15, but the effort would come up short, as the men in blue and white fell, 25-18.
- While the third set proved back-and-forth early on, with the lead changing hands three times through the first nine serves, the Maccabees could not keep pace with the home team's lethal attack. The Panthers would push their lead to 10 points at 23-13, and while the Macs drew within six at 24-16, the comeback attempt would not be enough, as Purchase took the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-0.
