Softball Falls to SJBK

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Playing their penultimate home game of the season, the Yeshiva Softball Team fell to St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, losing to the Bears by scores of 12-0 and 15-4 on Friday, Apr. 24th.

The Maccabees were led by Eliana Kieffer, with the shortstop tallying three on the day.

With the result, the Macs are now 0-21, 0-14 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 12-0)
  • The Maccabees managed four hits in game one, with Kieffer singling in both the second and fourth innings, while Hellman and Feldman also put the ball in the play in the fourth. None of that success would lead to runs however.

  • Yeshiva was not without their chances to score. In the fourth, the Macs loaded the bases with no outs. Unfortunately three straight strikeouts ended the inning, leaving all three runners stranded.

  • The Bears did not struggle to round the bases, scoring seven runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third, and one in the fifth.

MAC LEADERS
  • Hits: Kieffer (2), Hellman (1), Feldman (1)
  • Strikeouts: Trapedo (1)

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 15-4)
  • Yeshiva found more success in game two. After being held scoreless through the first four innings, the Maccabees found their groove in the fifth, seeing Elisheva Trapedo, Ariela Haftel, Leah Sasin, and Shira Pfeiffer all stomp on home plate.

  • Unfortunately, that effort was not enough to wrest control away from the visiting team, as the Bears jumped out to a large early lead behind six runs in the first inning, five in the second, two in the third, and two in the fourth.

MAC LEADERS
  • Runs: Trapedo (1), Haftel (1), Sasin (1), Pfeiffer (1)
  • Hits: Hellman (2), Feldman (1), Keffer (1)
  • RBIs: Hellman (1), Feldman (1), Pfeiffer (1), Dennen (1)
  • Stolen Bases: Feldman (1)
