Baseball Closes Season With Loss to Maritime

LYNDHURST, NJ - Taking the diamond for the final time in the 2026 season, the Yeshiva Baseball Team fell to Maritime College, dropping a doubleheader to the Privateers by scores of 14-4 and 22-3 on Friday, Mar. 1st.

The Maccabees were led by Jake Arnow, with YU's star tallying a statline of one hit, one run, and four RBIs across the pair of contests.

With the result, the Macs close out their season with a 2-28 record, 1-19 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 14-4)
  • While Yeshiva fell behind early, surrendering two runs in the top of the first inning and two in the top of the third for a 4-0 deficit, the men in blue and white responded in the bottom of the third. With the bases loaded, Arnow launched a double into right field, scoring Simmy Goldberger, Assaf Perl, and Lior Bongart. Arnow was then brought in by a Noah Steinmetz single, tying the game at 4-all.

  • Unfortunately that effort would prove the zenith of YU's offense. The Maccabees would be held scoreless for the rest of the game, while Maritime went on to score four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and five in the seventh, cementing Yeshiva's 14-4 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 22-3)
  • The Maccabees once again fell behind early, trailing 4-0 after the top of the first inning. While YU was able to get on the board in the bottom of the inning, scoring when Goldberger stole third and rounded home on an error, the effort was not enough to stop Maritime's inexorable attack.

  • Yeshiva managed two more runs, one in the fourth when Steinmetz was brought in by a Reuben Benzaquen double, and one in the seventh when Jonathan Greenberg scored on an Arnow sacrifice fly. Despite their persistence tho, the Macs were outpaced by their conference foe, as the Privateers tallied two more runs in the second, four in the fourth, one in the fifth, seven in the sixth, and four in the seventh.
