Mahran Named Women’s Cross Country Head Coach

NEW YORK, NY - Bringing a wealth of Maccabee experience to the program, Miy Mahran has been named the Head Coach for the Yeshiva Women's Cross Country Team.

Having previously served as the head coach for the men's cross country team, Mahran is no stranger to the program, with 2026 marking her eighth year at the school.

Mahran first joined Yeshiva University in 2019 as an Assistant Coach with the Men's Cross-Country program, before she was promoted to Head Men's Cross-Country Coach in 2021. Mahran successfully led the men's program for five seasons before transitioning to the women's team in 2026.

A former NCAA Division I student-athlete herself, Mahran competed in both cross country and track. Her experience as a student-athlete gives her a firsthand understanding of the demands of balancing rigorous coursework with training, competition, and the other responsibilities of collegiate athletics. She brings that perspective to her coaching, emphasizing consistency, resilience, and an individualized approach to helping each athlete reach their potential.

Running has remained an important part of Mahran's life beyond collegiate competition. She has completed several marathons, numerous half marathons, a triathlon, and countless races ranging from the 5K to 10K distances. She continues to train and compete recreationally, setting new athletic goals while also using running as an important outlet from the demands of her professional career.

Outside of coaching, Mahran works in immigration and public-interest law, advocating for unaccompanied immigrant children and young adults in complex immigration proceedings and humanitarian matters.

Mahran brings the same commitment to advocacy and mentorship to her role as a coach, striving to create an environment in which her student-athletes feel supported, challenged, and empowered to pursue their goals both on and off the course.
