Women’s Volleyball Falls in Home Opener, Drops Both Tri-Match Contests

NEW YORK, NY - Playing at home for the first time in 2026, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team hosted the Yeshiva University Tri-Match, welcoming both the Baruch College Bearcats and the Lesley University Bobcats to Baruch's ARC Arena. The Maccabees lost both of their games, falling by a score of 3-0 in each.

In both matches, the Maccabees were led by Elle Ohayon. The senior captain excelled on both sides of the ball, recording 12 kills and 20 digs across the pair of contests.

With the result, the Macs are now 0-3 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 vs Baruch (L, 3-0)
  • Yeshiva struggled in the first two sets. The Maccabees managed only six points in the first period and one in the second.

  • Despite trailing two sets to none, YU refused to lay down. The Macs fought hard in set number three, cracking double digit points at 19-10, before drawing within five of the Bearcats at 21-16. While Yeshiva's comeback attempt came up short, ultimately losing the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-0, the Maccabees proved their resilience.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 vs Lesley (L, 3-0)
  • Yeshiva once again got off to a slow start, falling behind 13-0 to kick off the first set. While this deficit reached as many as 16 points at 21-5, the Maccabees rallied, clawing within four at 23-19. However, YU's run would stop there, ultimately falling, 25-19.

  • The Macs once again fell behind early in set number two, trailing 22-6. While four Lesley errors pulled YU's point total into double digits, Yeshiva could not overcome the deficit, dropping the period, 25-10.

  • The third set proved far more competitive than the first two, with Yeshiva jumping out to an early 8-5 lead. YU's advantage would last through the next 21 serves, only once briefly surrendering the edge to Lesley. However, the Maccabees could not hold on through the end of the period, with the Bobcats seizing the lead for good at 17-16. Yeshiva continued to battle, but the effort came up short, as the Macs dropped the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-0.
