Female Athlete of the Month - November 2014

Our female athlete of month for November 2014 is Shani Hava. Shani is a member of the Yeshiva University women’s tennis team. A native of Petach Tikva, Israel, Shani played number one singles for the Maccabees this season and earned the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week four times, en route to being named the conference Rookie of the Year and a Skyline Conference first team All Conference selection. She played a pivotal role for the women’s team who earned a third place finish in Skyline Conference play and a conference playoff bid for the first time in more than a decade. Shani finished 6-2 in singles play this season.

What is your favorite thing about Yeshiva University?As a small school, it is very personal and everyone is helpful and supportive.
What is your favorite thing about being a student-athlete at Yeshiva University?Proudly representing Yeshiva and the camaraderie with my teammates and my coach.
What Yeshiva University class have you found most beneficial?Management and Marketing classes
What was your greatest memory as a Yeshiva student-athlete?When I won a close match against a two-year undefeated player.
Who was the most influential person to you as a child?My grandpa and my parents
Growing up what teacher in school do you remember to have the biggest influence on you?My literature teacher- Orit Mesinger
What is your favorite food?My Grandma's cooking

In high school, what clubs were you involved with?Tennis team

What accomplishment are you most proud of?That I moved to New York by myself to attend college
What is your favorite hobby (besides the sport you play)?Reading
Favorite sport to play (besides your sport)?Basketball
What is your favorite sports team?Maccabi Tel Aviv in Basketball
What would people you know now find surprising about you when you were younger?I took dance lessons and piano lessons for a few years before I decided on tennis
