Stu Poloner set a standard of excellence on the basketball court for YU, establishing himself as one of the greatest to wear the blue and white. In three years with the program, he scored 1,378 career points, which ranked No. 1 on YU’s all-time scoring list. Following a gap year in Israel as a junior in which he missed the 1969-70 campaign, Poloner recorded 28.1 points per game as a senior co-captain in 1970-71, the highest single-season mark in school history. He tallied a 47-point game as a senior and produced ten 30-plus point games over his career. Following his final season, he earned a spot on the College Division All-America team. From 1973-75, he served as an assistant coach on Johnny Halpert’s staff.
