Yeshiva University Athletics

After being integral to the growth of the program since 2017, Yoni Cohen officially joined the Macs coaching staff in 2020-21 as assistant coach and academic liaison. In this capacity, Cohen assists Yeshiva University Head Coach Elliot Steinmetz in recruiting top players to the University and ensures they have the resources and tools to succeed in Yeshiva's rigorous dual-curriculum academic environment. 

In 2021-22, he helped coach the Maccabees to the Skyline Conference Championship. The Maccabees were ranked No. 1 nationally by D3hoops.com that year, and sustained a 50-game winning streak from 2019 until 2021. 

During his 11-year professional career at Yeshiva, Cohen worked for multiple departments, most recently acting as the Deputy to the Senior Vice President, who oversaw the Admissions, Student Life, and Athletics Departments. Cohen’s intimate knowledge of the University allows the student-athletes to navigate safely and productively throughout their tenure at Yeshiva, and ensure they are prepared for life after basketball.

Currently residing in Queens, N.Y., Cohen also acts as the Chief of Staff at the Orthodox Union in New York City. He and his wife Tzivia have four wonderful children, two of which are at Yeshiva.
