Avinash Somir is a certified fencing instructor in both epee and foil by the FIE. Being an Ohio State alum with a B.A. in psychology, he has trained under Coach Nazlymov and Alexander Smerdin whom have helped Somir become a recipient of multiple NCAA titles including the NCAA Team Championship and the Mid-West Conference Championship.
Somir has been an athlete of the sport for over a decade and continues to participate at the international level. He is currently the co-founder, first professional athlete, and acting chief communications officer of the Guyana Fencing Federation.
Somir currently resides in Long Island, New York.
