Joshua Polster began his tenure as assistant coach of the Yeshiva University men's fencing team in September of 2022.
No stranger to the program, Polster competed for the Maccabees for four years (2018-2022) and garnered a lot of success. The multi-year team captain qualified for the NCAA Northeast Regional four times in his illustrious career.
Polster was named to the United States Fencing Coaches Association All-Academic team and earned Scholar of Distinction accolades during both his junior and senior years. He was also named the Yeshiva University Male Graduating Student-Athlete of the Year (individual sports) and the Most Outstanding Yeshiva University Graduating Male Scholar-Athlete. Polster is also a two-time winner of the Coach's Award.
During his sophomore season, Polster went 72-49 in epee duels. In his senior year, he went 56-43 in epee combat. As a rookie, he finished 16th overall in the epee standings at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association Championships.
Prior to Yeshiva, Polster competed in fencing for his high school team, Ida Crown Jewish Academy, where he served as team captain. The Skokie, Ill. native earned Most Valuable Performer honors.
Polster graduated with a degree in chemistry from Yeshiva University in May of 2022.
