Danielle DeStaso

Danielle DeStaso was promoted to head coach of the Yeshiva University softball team in June of 2017. She spent the previous season as the team's assistant coach. 

During Destaso's first two years as head coach of the Maccabees, Basya Goldstein set a program single-season record (at the time) with 27 hits in 2018. She broke her own record with 30 hits in 2019. 

Prior to joining Yeshiva University, DeStaso coached and played professionally in Switzerland with the Lucerne Eagles in 2016. She helped bring the team to the Swiss Championships, as well as participated in the Premiere Series European Championship Cup in Italy (August 2016) with the Eagles. 

DeStaso attended Seton Hall University and played on the varsity softball team from 2012-2015. In 2015, DeStaso was an All-Big East first team selection and was on the Big East All-Tournament team. She was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team.

The Congers, N.Y. native ranks second in school history in career home runs (35) and runs batted in (125). In the pitcher's circle, she currently ranks third in program history with 486 career strikeouts and is in sixth place on the Pirates' all-time win list with 38. 

An elementary special education major, with a concentration in environmental studies and mathematics, DeStaso graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall in 2015.
