Matthew Kaldon

Matthew Kaldon was hired as the Yeshiva University Head Softball Coach in August of 2022. He also serves as the Assistant Director of Athletics/Recruiting Coordinator, a role he has had at YU since October of 2021. 

Prior to Yeshiva, Kaldon served as an Athletic Liaison & Transfer Admissions Counselor at Mount Saint Mary College from September of 2019 until September of 2021. He held monthly meetings with coaches on recruiting and attended recruiting visits to go over the admissions process. Kaldon also assisted potential incoming student-athletes with the admissions process. He was also in charge of recruiting athletically and academically qualified students.

Kaldon had stops as the Assistant Baseball Coach at Mount Saint Mary College (August 2014-August 2015 and September 2019-September 2021), Manhattanville College (August 2013-May 2014), and SUNY New Paltz (August 2016-August 2017). He assisted in all phases of the baseball program at each of the schools he worked for including academic and competitive success, coordinating all recruiting efforts, on field coaching, game and practice preparation, and overall development of student-athletes. Kaldon also assisted with travel plans, budgeting, meals, ordering uniforms, and scheduling home and away contests. He also served as the Recruiting Coordinator during his coaching tenure at SUNY New Paltz.

From September of 2015 until January of 2017, Kaldon was the Assistant Sports Director at Sports Court. There, he helped manage and run the sports facility and run day-to-day operations such as budgeting, managing employees' schedules, and creating new revenue ideas. He also organized different sports clinics, supervised the building, and scheduled lessons and team practices.

Kaldon did his undergraduate studies at SUNY New Paltz. He was the team captain, and starting catcher, for the Hawks baseball team. During his three seasons on the team (2011-2013), Kaldon earned a spot on the SUNYAC All-Conference Team and was named the team's M.V.P. (Most Valuable Player).

After earning his Bachelor of Arts in public relations from SUNY New Paltz in May of 2013, Kaldon was the starting catcher for two professional baseball teams: The Taos Blizzard of the Pecos League (2014) and the Glacier Grizzlies (2015).

Kaldon currently resides in Walden, N.Y. with his wife Shelby and daughter Vivian. He earned his Master of Science in sports business management from Manhattanville College in May of 2016.
