Jason Helguero

Jason Helguero joined Yeshiva University’s Department of Athletics as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator on August 1st, 2024 after stints as an assistant coach at the United States Merchant Marine Academy and Five Towns College.

At the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy, Helguero assisted in all operations of the program with a strong focus on game strategy, recruiting, opponent scouting and daily practice preparation. He aided in the development of one Second Team All-Conference player and helped 2023 Men’s team reach the playoffs in a top heavy Skyline Conference.

Prior to US Merchant Marine Academy, Jason Helguero assisted the Five Towns College team to its first conference championship and secured an at-large bid to the National tournament. The Women’s program won Coaching staff of the year and Helguero aided in the development of two all-conference players.

Before moving to the collegiate level, Jason Helguero spent six years as an assistant coach at Our Lady of Mercy Academy. He helped the girls Varsity and JV teams reach the playoffs six years in a row; the Varsity team captured the Long Island Catholic League High School championship in 2018 and 2021.

Coach Helguero was a member of Long island Lightning, the largest AAU basketball program in the country, where he spent eight seasons coaching highly competitive basketball. His teams captured dozens of tournament Championships and several League titles. Helguero has coached and developed numerous student-athletes that have moved on to the college ranks.

Jason's commitment to basketball is year-round. He is the founder of Rangers Basketball, an AAU program based out of Long Island. He also serves as a Board Director for Syosset Basketball leading the Boys and Girls Club teams.

Coach Helguero earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from St. John's University and is a graduate of New York City’s basketball powerhouse, Archbishop Molloy high school.

Jason has spent over fifteen years as a FinTech professional in the Wall Street community and is currently a derivatives trader, real estate investor, and venture capitalist.
