Christine Serdjenian Yearwood

Christine Serdjenian Yearwood

Christine Serdjenian Yearwood began her term as Assistant Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator at Yeshiva University in September, 2012. In addition to her administrative duties, she is presently serving as the interim head coach for the Maccabees’ women’s soccer program.
 
Serdjenian Yearwood most recently served as a consultant to the American University of Armenia, where she played an instrumental role in helping the institution to plan for its first undergraduate student body entering in 2013. Her work included research, presentations and advice on components and models of academic support, athletics, student activities, disability services, health and wellness, and international higher education. Additionally, Serdjenian Yearwood collaborated to create a recruitment and retention plan for rural students.
 
Previously, Serdjenian Yearwood was an assistant in the student-athlete support services area at Lesley University (Cambridge, Mass.). At Lesley, among Serdjenian Yearwood’s accomplishments was the implementation of a pilot program for student-athlete mentoring, which is now being utilized on a larger scale by the university. She was also actively involved with freshman student-athlete transition seminars to address academic expectations, institutional and NCAA policies and procedures, and connect students with academic, personal and social campus resources and support services.
 
Serdjenian Yearwood’s additional professional experience includes teaching English as a Second Language, and training new teachers as an associate on the professional development team for Teach for America. She also advised students, developed and implemented programs, and supervised case management for the College Success Office at Harlem Children’s Zone.
 
A native of Waterville, Maine, Serdjenian Yearwood was a McDonald’s All-American, a two-time All-America and three-time All-New England selection as a soccer standout in high school. From there, she went on to garner four letters at Brown University, where she was a team captain in her senior campaign (2005). She received the Bears’ Dobson/Kay Coaches’ Award in 2004, as well as the Margeson Most Team Spirit Award IN 2005. Serdjenian Yearwood was also a guest player in the summer of 2012 for the Armenian national team. Serdjenian Yearwood has served as a coach in the New York City public school system, as well as both at the middle- and high-school levels during the summers since 2003 at The Soccer Camp at Colby College. She holds a state level coaching diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
 
After earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brown in 2006, Serdjenian Yearwood garnered a master’s degree in teaching English as a Second Language from Pace University in 2008. She then earned a master’s degree in higher education from Harvard University in 2012. Serdjenian Yearwood resides in Astoria, N.Y., with her husband, Jose.
