(Edgewater, NJ) - Five Maccabees scored singles victories, and the YU #2 doubles team of Max Klein (Woodmere, NY/HAFTR) and Joseph Itkis (Newton, MA/Maimonides) scored an 8-2 win as the Yeshiva University Men's Tennis team improved to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in Skyline Conference play with a 6-3 win over Purchase College on Sunday evening at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, NJ.
Yeshiva clinched the match during singles play as YU won every singles flight except #4 singles. Freshman Zachary Charles (New York, NY/Ramaz) and Klein were both 6-2, 6-1 winners at #1 and #2 singles, respectively. Itkis continued his outstanding play at #3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Senior Moshe Neiman (Teaneck, NJ/Ramaz) had the closest match during singles play, winning #5 singles with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 win, and he was followed by a 7-5, 6-3 victory at #6 singles by junior Moshe Dlott (Cleveland, OH/Fuchs Mizrachi).
With the match at hand already, Yeshiva's lone doubles win came at #2 as Klein and Itkis were outstanding during an 8-2 victory.
Yeshiva returns to action on Monday night when the Maccabees host Mount Saint Vincent at 8:00 p.m.
