Men's Tennis falls to Bard in regular season finale

(Annandale, NY) - Three Maccabees scored singles victories, and the #1 doubles team of Zach Charles (New York, NY/Ramaz) and Benji Rosenberg (Vienna, Austria/ZPC) notched an 8-2 win, but the Yeshiva University Men's Tennis team concluded the 2009 regular season with a 5-4 loss to Bard College on Sunday afternoon at Bard. With the loss, YU finishes the 2009 regular season with a 6-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in Skyline Conference play.

Yeshiva fell behind 2-1 after doubles play as Charles and Rosenberg scored the lone win for YU in double competition, but the Maccabees rallied in singles play, and nearly pulled out the match. Yeshiva scored victories in #2, #3, and #4 singles as junior Max Klein (Woodmere, NY/HAFTR), junior Joseph Itkis (Newton, MA/Maimonides), and Rosenberg all enjoyed straight set victories. However, an injury to Charles forced him to retire from his #1 singles match, and losses in #5 and #6 singles gave Bard the win.

Yeshiva returns to action on Wednesday night when the Maccabees travel to St. Joseph's (LI) for the Skyline Conference Semifinals. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
