(New York, NY) – Junior Tamar Kram (Newton, MA/Maimonides) enjoyed another fine performance in net, stopping 17 out of 22 shots, and the YU defense showed tremendous improvement after a sluggish start, but the Yeshiva University Women's Soccer team lost 5-0 to Mount Saint Vincent after a 5-0 loss to the Dolphins on Monday night at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, NY. With the loss, the Maccabees are now 0-2 overall and 0-2 in Skyline Conference play.
Mount Saint Vincent scored twice in the first 5:29 to take a commanding 2-0 lead, Yeshiva quickly turned things around, keeping possession for a majority of the remaining minutes in the first half, and the Maccabees enjoyed three breakaway attempts, all of which were turned away by the Dolphin defense. MSV took the game's first 12 shots, but during the final 30 minutes of the first half, Yeshiva evened play as each team took eight shots during the stretch, but the Maccabees were unable to score. Bad luck struck YU during the closing minutes of the first half as a Mount Saint Vincent crossing pass trickled past through three Yeshiva defenders and found its way into the goal to give the Dolphins a 3-0 lead at halftime.
The second half saw Yeshiva take six shots during the first part of the stanza, but as the half moved on, Yeshiva's efforts quickly ran out of steam. Mount Saint Vincent scored on a rebound off of a spectacular Kram save at 55:31 to make it 4-0, and an own goal by YU at 67:41 pushed the score to 5-0.
Mount Saint Vincent outshot Yeshiva 38-14 and had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Kram was outstanding in goal once again, and Yeshiva received an inspired effort by junior Janna Login (Newton, MA/Maimonides) and forward Atara Kanarfogel (Teaneck, NJ/Bruriah).
Yeshiva returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 11 when the host Skyline Conference foe Old Westbury for an 8:00 p.m. start.
