(Staten Island, NY) - Junior Nili Block (Teaneck, NJ/Bruriah) had a career-high 16 digs during a spectacular defensive effort, and junior Tzivya Block (Teaneck, NJ/Bruriah) and senior Adira Katlowitz (Brooklyn, NY/Yeshiva Flatbush) had three service aces apiece, but the Yeshiva University Women's Volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the College of Staten Island on Sunday afternoon at St. John Villa High School in Staten Island, New York. With the loss, Yeshiva is now 1-6 during its first varsity season.
CSI swept the three-set battle, 25-17, 25-12, and 25-20, sending Yeshiva to its third straight loss.
Both Blocks were simply brilliant for Yeshiva as the Maccabees combined for 28 digs and 11 service aces, but struggled on the offensive end, hitting -.049 as Yeshiva combined for only six kills in 61 attempts. Katlowitz, and senior Aviva Miller (Teaneck, NJ/Frisch) had two kills apiece to lead YU.
Yeshiva returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 when the Maccabees host Purchase College at 8:00 p.m. The match will be played at Hunter College.
