NEW YORK, NY – The Yeshiva women's volleyball team hosted City Tech and Cooper Union in a double dual match Wednesday evening at Hunter College. The Macs earned a 3-1 win against NYCT before falling to Cooper Union 0-3. The team's record stands at 1-3 overall.
In game one, Yeshiva dropped a close first set 25-27 but stormed back to take the next three easily; 25-18, 25-20, 25-22. Leading the way was
Rena Rotter with 11 points on 10 kills and an ace. She also recorded 23 digs in the match.
Sarit Zukowsky led the Macs with 31 digs, followed closely by
Dena Shayne with 27.
Moriah Green recorded 18 assists for a Yeshiva team that had only 1 ball handling error during the match.
Against Cooper Union, Yeshiva lost their first three games 13-25, 17-25, 23-25.
Dena Shayne had 11 points, 8 kills, and 12 digs to lead the way for Yeshiva in each category.
Ashley Ansel had 2 kills and 5 digs, while
Moriah Green led the team with 8 assists.
The entire team showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness month by wearing pink shirts for warm-up's and pink socks for the entire game. Each fall Maccabee team will wear pink during an upcoming competition date. The department will also sell shirts and socks at select games, with all proceeds going to Sharsheret.
The Macs have another game this evening, this time on the road at NYU-Polytechnic. The game is scheduled to start at 8:00 PM.
