NEW YORK, NY – The Yeshiva wrestling team hosted Scranton and Bergen CC Sunday afternoon at the MSAC, in the season's only home match. Scranton defeated Yeshiva 40-9 and Bergen won 28-9, but Yeshiva had some strong performances in each.
Against Scranton,
Ron Simchi was down 1 point going into the third period but scored a takedown and secured back-to-back points to defeat his opponent in the 149 weight class late in the period.
Eli Fuld defeated his opponent in the 165 class, as well as
Gregory Kupsin in the 184 class.
Against Bergen, Simchi took his opponent to overtime, but was unable to win as he fell in the final 15 seconds of the match. Kupsin again won his match, dominating his opponent and winning 7-3.
The team's next competition will be Thursday at Trinity College, where Yeshiva will wrestle Trinity and Springfield Tech beginning at 6PM.
