Men's Basketball Powers Past Sarah Lawrence College in Skyline Contest

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's basketball team had another strong outing on Wednesday evening and the Maccabees beat Sarah Lawrence College 78-57 in a Skyline Conference tilt for win eleven on the season.
 
The win makes it eight out of its last nine for Yeshiva who is 11-4 overall and 8-2 in the Skyline Conference. Sarah Lawrence College is now 1-15 on the season and 0-10 in Skyline Conference play.
 
The Maccabees got a strong outing by Benjy Ritholtz with 26 points in just 28 minutes of action. He connected on four three point field goals and had six assists and three steals. Meanwhile Shaje Weiss was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line for 19 points. Shelby Rosenberg added 15 points and seven rebounds in the win.
 
Sarah Lawrence College was led by Graham Gilleran with 20 points.
 
The Maccabees shot 53.3 percent from the floor (24-for-45) and cashed in on 86.2 percent foul shooting (25-for-29).
 
The hosts Gryphons led early and were up 7-4 with less than three minutes gone by. Yeshiva though used a 13-0 run to pull ahead by 10 and the Maccabees were ahead 17-7 with 14:14 to go. Sarah Lawrence stayed close and retook the lead once more and, behind a 14-2 run, was up 21-19 with 9:13 to go. Yeshiva quickly answered though and raced off with a 16-0 spurt to go back ahead, and the Maccabees led 35-21 with 5:19 to go in the first half.
 
Yeshiva never trailed again, and the Maccabees biggest lead of the first half was just before halftime with Yeshiva up 45-29.
 
The Maccabees maintained a large lead in the second half en route to the win.
 
Yeshiva returns to action on Saturday evening for a game against Mount Saint Mary's College at 8:30 p.m.
