NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva women's basketball team was defeated by St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (SJC) 59-48 in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) matchup at the Wellness Center on the campus of the College of New Rochelle Thursday evening.
Yeshiva is now 3-12 overall this season and 2-3 in the HVIAC, while SJC is remains undefeated in HVIAC at 4-0, and the Bears are now 13-7 overall.
Yeshiva was led by
Ester Kerzner with 14 points to go along with six rebounds, while
Stephanie Greenberg and
Julia Owen each had 12 points and seven rebounds. Greenberg added a season-high eight steals and four assists in the contest.
Simee Rosner added game-highs 14 rebounds and five blocked shots.
SJC was led by Taylor Raccuglia with 16 points, while Destiny Marino had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with seven steals.
SJC led throughout the contest and the Bears' biggest lead was 16 points when SJC led 51-35 with 5:45 to go in the second half.
SJC held a 20-10 lead on points off turnovers and the Bears outscored Yeshiva 32-14 on points in the paint.
Yeshiva returns to action on Sunday for a game against the College at Old Westbury at the ARC Arena on the campus of Baruch College at 2 p.m.
