EDGEWATER, N.J.— The Yeshiva University men's tennis team defeated Baruch College 9-0 at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Tuesday evening.
The win improves Yeshiva to 4-2 overall this season, while Baruch is now 1-1 on the year.
Yeshiva swept the doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of
Igal Mostkov and
David Papis Elon won 8-4, while at No. 2 it was
Charles Saka and
Dmitri Lebedyev won 8-2. At No. 3 doubles,
Steven Jemal and
Robby Rubin earned an 8-1 victory.
In singles competition, Mostkov picked up a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 1. At No. 2 it was Papis Elon picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win. Lebedyev won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles. At No. 4 it was Jemal winning 6-1, 7-5, while at No. 5, Saka picked up a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win. At No. 6 singles,
Adam Wannon returned from injury and defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-2.
Yeshiva is back in action on Thursday for a match against Lehman College at the Binghamton Racquet Club at 8 p.m.
