Softball Falls in a Pair of Games to John Jay

BRONX, N.Y.— The Yeshiva softball team was defeated by John Jay College in a doubleheader on Tuesday evening, losing by scores of 18-9 and 15-3.
 
Yeshiva is now 0-4 on the year, while John Jay improves to 3-7 this season.
 
In the first game, the Maccabees were led by Erin Potasnick who went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in, while Kayla Applebaum went 2-for-3 with a double, a pair of runs and two runs batted in. Rachel Mirsky went 1-for-3 and scored three times.
 
John Jay was limited to just six hits in the opener, as the Maccabees outhit the Bloodhounds 9-6.
 
John Jay was led by Lisa Pellegrino who was 2-for-2 with a home run, four runs and two runs batted in.
 
Potasnick took the loss in game one allowing 18 runs (16 earned), while striking out three.
 
In game two, Applebaum went 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in, while Mirsky, Merav Saden Barach and Eliana Levy had one hit each.
 
Pellegrino finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored for John Jay, while Jennifer Valera had a home run and three runs batted in for the Bloodhounds.
 
Mirsky took the loss in game two. She pitched 4.0 innings and allowed 15 runs (12 earned) on nine hits.
 
Pellegrino earned the win for John Jay after going 5.0 innings and allowing three runs on five hits.
