PURCHASE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva baseball team was defeated in both games of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon as the Maccabees lost to Purchase College 16-9 and 22-0.
Yeshiva is now 0-4 (0-4 Skyline) this season.
In the first game, the Maccabees were led by
Josh Gurin, who was 4-for-5 with a double and two runs batted in. Fellow teammate
Chaim Rosenberg went 3-for-3 and scored three times, while
Elan Paul,
Rephael Rosenberg,
Jake Litwin,
Zev Rosenbaum and
Jakob Finkel had one hit each. Litwin and
Joseph Miller scored twice in the contest.
Jonathan Gardner suffered the game one loss after going 6.2 innings and allowing 14 runs on 18 hits, while striking out four.
In game two, Paul, Miller,
Zachary Perl and
Joseph Bankier had one hit each.
Benjy Blumenthal suffered the game two loss after going four innings and allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on six hits, while striking out one.
Yeshiva is back in action on Wednesday for a game against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at 8 p.m. at Levine Field at Taft High School.
