THROGGS NECK, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University baseball team was defeated by Maritime College in a pair of games on Sunday afternoon, losing to Maritime College 15-1 and 13-0.
In the first game, the Maccabees broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by
Shmuli Goldis to score
Rephael Rosenberg who walked earlier in the inning.
The host Privateers scored a run in the bottom half of the third to tie the score. Then they then scored three more in the fourth to go ahead 4-1, before scoring again in the fifth to make the score 5-1. In the sixth inning, Maritime College scored 10 runs to break the game wide open and win it in seven innings.
The Maccabees had two hits in the opener.
Elan Paul had a third inning single for Yeshiva's other hit.
Jonathan Gardner suffered the game one loss after going 5.0 innings and allowing nine runs on 14 hits.
In the second game, Maritime scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead after one inning. The Privateers then scored again in the third, before plating five each in the fourth and fifth to lead 13-0 after five innings.
Yeshiva had five hits in the nightcap and was led by
Zachary Perl who was 2-for-3 with a double, while
Joseph Miller was 1-for-3 with a double. Goldis and Paul also had a hit each in game two for Yeshiva.
Jacob Henry took the loss after tossing 3.0 innings and allowed three runs on three hits.
