BELLEROSE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva softball team was defeated by St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (SJCBK) in both games of a doubleheader on Friday morning as the Maccabees lost to the Bears 19-11 in the first game and 12-0 in the second game.
With the losses, Yeshiva is now 3-11 overall, while SJCBK is now 17-13.
In the first game, the Maccabees were led by
Kayla Applebaum who was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in.
Rachel Mirsky went 2-for-3 in the opener with two doubles, two runs and two runs batted in, while
Lieba Swartz-Brownstein went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and a run batted in.
Rachel Siegel went 2-for-3 with a run and a run batted in.
SJCBK had five players get two hits each, while Maria Gentile went 1-for-4 with a pair of runs and three runs batted in.
In the second game, five Yeshiva players had one hit each, while Applebaum hit a double.
Destiny Marino led the Bears in the second game by going 2-for-3 with a double and four runs batted in.
Yeshiva's next opponent is York College on Sunday at noon at Purchase College softball complex.
