PURCHASE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva softball team won a pair of games over York College in a doubleheader played at the Purchase College Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees won the first game 8-4 and the second game15-2.
With the wins, the Maccabees are now 5-11 this season, while York College is 3-22 overall.
In the first game, the Maccabees were led by
Erin Potasnick who was 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and two runs batted in.
Rachel Mirsky went 2-for-2 with a homerun, three runs and a run batted in.
Hannah Dubin,
Kayla Applebaum,
Rachel Siegel and
Leah Ben-Zvi all had one hit each in the win.
York College was led by Chyla Guevara who was 2-for-4 with a run and a run batted in.
Mirsky picked up the game one win by going 7.0 innings and allowing four runs on six hits, while striking out 11.
In the second game, Potasnick had a dream performance going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, four runs and seven runs batted in to cap off a day where she went a combined 7-for-8 with two doubles, a triple, six runs and nine runs batted in.
Also performing well in game two was
Rebecca Kleiner who was 2-for-4, while
Merav Saden Barach,
Eliana Levy,
Dena Rubanowitz, Ben-Zvi and Mirsky had one hit each.
Potasnick also picked up the win in game two going 5.0 innings and allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
Yeshiva is back in action on Tuesday for a doubleheader at Drew University at 4 p.m.
