MADISON, N.J.— The Yeshiva softball team lost a pair of games on Tuesday afternoon losing to Drew University 15-0 and 13-2.
Yeshiva is now 5-13 overall this season, while Drew improves to 11-27.
In the first game, the Rangers' starting pitcher, Laura D'Ornellas tossed a no-hitter. She pitched 5.0 innings and allowed no runs, on no hits, walked one and struck out seven. Yeshiva's lone base runner in game one was
Kayla Applebaum who drew a two out walk in the top of the fourth inning.
Rachel Mirsky suffered the game one loss after tossing 4.0 innings and allowing 15 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits.
Drew was led in game one by Emma Agostini who was 3-for-4 with a run and two runs batted in.
In the second game, Yeshiva fell behind 13-0 after three innings before scoring two runs in the top of the fourth. First a single down the leftfield line by
Rebecca Kleiner scored
Rachel Siegel. Then Kleiner scored later in the inning on a fielder's choice ground out by
Erin Potasnick.
The Maccabees ripped nine hits total in the second game, including two off the bat of Kleiner,
Merav Saden Barach and
Rachel Mirsky. Applebaum,
Eliana Levy and
Hannah Dubin added one hit each.
D'Ornellas led Drew in the second game as well by going 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and three runs batted in.
Yeshiva is back in action on Thursday for a doubleheader at New Jersey City University starting at 4 p.m.
