Box Score 2 JERSEY CITY, N.J.— The Yeshiva University softball team was swept in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, losing the first game 8-7 in eight innings and 19-4 in the second game.
In the first game, the Maccabees pounded out 14 hits, and Yeshiva was led by
Eliana Levy who was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored, while
Rachel Siegel went 3-for-4 with a run.
Rachel Mirsky went 1-for-5 and hit a solo homerun, while
Kayla Applebaum and
Erin Potasnick had two hits each.
The Maccabees trailed 5-2 going into the top of the seventh inning, when Yeshiva scored five runs in the inning to take a 7-5 lead.
Merav Saden Barach broke a 5-5 tie with a two run double to cap the inning.
But the Gothic Knights scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie it, giving the Maccabees their first extra inning game in program history. In the bottom of the eighth, NJCU scored the game winning run via a dropped fly ball in the outfield.
In the second game, Yeshiva scored in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead, before the Gothic Knights scored seven runs in the bottom half to lead 7-1. Yeshiva scored again in the top of the second, but NJCU scored nine times in the bottom half to lead 16-2 after the second inning and the Gothic Knights never looked back.

Erin Potasnick and
Eliana Levy with two hits each.
