AMHERST, N.Y.— In what was yet another history making season for the University, the Yeshiva men's tennis season came to an end on Friday morning as the Maccabees lost to second nationally ranked, and defending NCAA Division III men's tennis champion Amherst College, 5-0, in the second round of the NCAA Division III national championship.
Yeshiva's season ends with a 13-4 overall record, champions of the Skyline Conference, and the first Yeshiva University program to win an NCAA tournament contest in any sport.
In doubles play, the duo of
David Papis Elon and
Dmitri Lebedyev, at No. 1, lost 8-5 to the Amherst team of Michael Solimano and Aaron Revzin. In second doubles,
Steven Jemal and
Charles Saka lost 8-1 against the Amherst combination of Anton Zykov and Andrew Yaraghi. In third doubles,
Robby Rubin and
Akiva Katz fell 8-0 to Amherst's Russell Einbinder and Andrew Scheiner.
In singles matches, Rubin lost 6-0, 6-0 to Ben Fife of Amherst at No. 6. At No. 4
Adam Wannon was defeated by the same score to Sean Rodriguez.
