Men's Soccer Drops High-Scoring Contest to SUNY Cobleskill

TEANECK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a non-conference loss to SUNY Cobleskill, 6-4, at University Stadium on Thursday evening. Each team scored three goals in the opening half, but the Fighting Tigers outscored the Maccabees, 3-1, in the second stanza to clinch the win.

SUNY Cobleskill (8-6-2) struck first in the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead. YU (3-11-1) countered just over six minutes later, as sophomore forward Julian Ribak took a feed from freshman forward Netanel Silberman to score his first goal of the season. In the 23rd minute, Silberman found sophomore forward Albert Dichy, who received a through ball on the right side and shot it past the goalkeeper, giving Yeshiva a 2-1 advantage. The visiting team tied it up just 23 seconds later.

The Maccabees regained the lead in the 30th minute, thanks to Silberman scoring his sixth goal of the season, as he received the ball off a throw in and shot it into the back of the cage from 20-yards out. Sophomore defender Juan Cotton was credited with the assist. The Fighting Tigers tied the match with less than five minutes remaining in the opening half. Both teams went into intermission knotted at three.

SUNY Cobleskill scored the next two goals to put Yeshiva at a 5-3 disadvantage. Dichy produced his second goal of the night, and eighth of the season, to narrow the score to 5-4 in the 82nd minute. The visiting team added an insurance goal just over five minutes later and went on to win the match, 6-4.

For the evening, SUNY Cobleskill outshot Yeshiva 22-10, while the Maccabees had a slight edge in corner kicks, 6-5. Freshman goalkeeper Max Goldstein made six saves.

Yeshiva will be back in action on Sunday for a non-conference match against the University of Valley Forge. The contest will take place at University Stadium beginning at 2:00 p.m.
