FEASTERVILLE, Penn. – The Yeshiva University roller hockey team continues its surge, as the Maccabees won all four contests on Sunday. Yeshiva defeated Oswego State, 5-3, knocked off Endicott College, 5-2, routed Boston University, 7-2, and defeated Northeastern University, 3-2, in a shootout.
With the four wins, Yeshiva now stands alone in first place in the Division II Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association standings with a 9-1 record, good for 18 points.
In the game against Oswego, forward
Jake Ratzker scored two goals, while defenseman
Michael Fruchter added one goal and an assist. Defenseman
Amir Gavarin found the back of the net, just 19 seconds into the game. Forward
Jesse Gordon added a goal with an assist from forward
Avi Margulies in the second period. In net,
Jonathan Jaroslawicz made 18 saves.
Against Endicott, forward
Ari Drazin scored two goals, including one on the power play, and added an assist, while Gordon produced a goal and one helper. Forward
Donny Fuchs had a third-period goal, while defenseman
Mendy Duftler added an empty netter to clinch the victory for the Maccabees. Jaroslawicz made 21 more saves in the contest.
In the game against Boston University, Ratzker produced a hat-trick and added one assist. Fuchs had a goal and an assist, while Gordon added one goal and two assists. Netminder
Joseph Robin stopped 12 shots.
After falling to Northeastern earlier in the season, Yeshiva countered with a thrilling shootout victory. Robin made 24 saves, while Drazin and defenseman
Benjy Shulman each produced a goal. In the shootout, forward
Moshe Genuth scored the game-winning goal.
Yeshiva will return to the rink on Sunday January 29, for games against Stony Brook University, Delaware University, and Penn State. The games will take place in North Arlington, N.J., beginning at 8:30 a.m.
