RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking Skyline loss to Mount Saint Vincent, 2-1, at the Athletic Field at Marillac on Sunday afternoon. Yeshiva now falls to 1-2 in Skyline play, while Mount Saint Vincent ups its record to 1-0 in conference play.
The Maccabees (1-4, 1-2 Skyline) and the Dolphins (2-2-1, 1-0 Skyline) were tied at one late in the second half, but Rodrigo Silva scored the game-winning goal in the 85
th minute for Mount Saint Vincent.
Earlier in the match, Yeshiva struck first as freshman forward
Netanel Silberman headed the ball into the net off of feeds from junior midfielder
Aaron Braun and senior forward
Itamar Ben David to give the Maccabees a 1-0 advantage in the 27
th minute. That would be the score going into the half.
In the second stanza, the Dolphins tied the match at one in the 74
th minute. 12 minutes later, Silva produced the game-winning goal to give Mount Saint Vincent the conference victory.
For the match, the Maccabees outshot the Dolphins, 18-10, and had the edge in corner kicks, 7-2.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Wednesday, for a Skyline Conference match at Purchase College, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
