FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to Farmingdale State, 1-0, out on Long Island on Friday afternoon. The Maccabees now fall to 2-8-1 overall and 2-6-1 in Skyline play.
Both teams were deadlocked at zero for the majority of the contest, but a Farmingdale State (5-4, 4-0 Skyline) goal that was shot in off a header by Richard Mastrangelo in the 77
th minute proved to be the game-winner.
The Maccabees had a couple of chances to tie the match, as a shot by sophomore forward
Albert Dichy was stopped by the Rams' goalkeeper, Lucas Mallia, in the 87
th minute. With just under two minutes remaining, sophomore forward
Julian Ribak produced a shot that sailed over the net. Time would eventually run out on the Maccabees, as the Rams went on to win the Skyline contest.
Shots were 13-10 in favor of Farmingdale State. Freshman goalkeeper
Max Goldstein recorded seven saves for Yeshiva.
The Maccabees will be back in action next Friday, for a Skyline Conference contest against Old Westbury at Votee Park, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
